I wasn't in the band and I don't play an instrument (I did learn to play CCR's Down on the Corner on guitar once but I couldn't do it now) but I'm happiest when listening to a good tune. I'm the go-to person to ask 'who sings that'?. I'm right there with you in regards to hearing a song and having it take you back to a specific time. It happens all the time and always makes me smile.
