We are greeted with the girls reaction to Ebony’s unique exit. Much like most of America, there is a mixed reaction. Bianca doesn’t understand why she couldn’t just stick it out and Tootie, I mean Saliesha, is glad she made the choice she made. Ambreal realizes she has to prove herself after nearly being eliminated. Sarah is in crisis about her weight.
Bianca says Heather never does anything extraordinary. Heather believes that her abilities come from being an artist. Rather than just taking a good picture, she makes them. Bianca doesn’t think Heather has to do as much and refuses to treat differently because she has a disability.
After the first Tyra mail, the girls arrive at a studio to find full suit leotards. Tyra teaches them how to be sexy and move for music videos and commercials. I know it’s not, but if that’s the last time I see Tyra teach this season, I’ll be content. There are four areas in Tyra’s lesson: the runway walk, acting sweet and coy, the wall slide (NOT the hoochie slide) and the crawl. Bianca slams Heather again, but Tyra doesn’t see it and Bianca determines that Heather can do no wrong.
Later, at the house, the girls are weighing themselves and discussing sizes. Bianca states she weighs the most in the house in front of Sarah, who is the borderline plus size model of the season who isn’t really plus size at all.
The next Tyra mail asks the girls if they are ready to share the spotlight. The girls learn that they will be doing a video shoot with director Jessy Terrero and his team of Lisa Arianna and Billy Parks. After some time in hair and make-up, they learn that the video is for Enrique Iglesias’ “Tired of being sorry.” It is determined that one girl will get a feature role. Lisa is awarded this honor and the look on Bianca’s face says it all. Much to Bianca’s relief, the girls are then surprised that yet another girl will receive some time in the spotlight. Imagine the reaction when Heather is awarded with this.
Chantal says that she has a natural talent for modeling, but Jessy Terrero says she feels stiff. Ambreal probably has the biggest challenge, not only because she was asked to do a slide, but also because technically, she shouldn’t still be in this competition. Sarah feels uncomfortable in the outfit she is wearing. The part comes that I’ve been dreading for two weeks…when someone needs medical attention. I feared that it was Heather and sure enough, it was. It isn’t a surprise given the long hours, hot conditions which are impacted by the fact that Heather hasn’t eaten all day. All the girls who were so worried…except Bianca who determines that Heather can’t handle the modeling world.
Twiggy, Miss J, Tyra, Nigel and Jessy Terrero critique the girls’ performance on the set. Ambreal is told that her slide looks too hoochie. Sarah gets called out on losing weight yet again. Heather is told that she looks fierce and Bianca is told she needs to make her movements more fluid. As Tyra stands with 7 photos in her hand, Lisa is called first. In the end, as Sarah and Chantal stand before her, she reveals that the girl who will not continue on to being America’s Next Top Model is Sarah. Normally I end my recap here, but I noticed something this week. Sarah breaks down into tears and Chantal hugs her. Then, you see Chantal look at Tyra with this pleading look on her face. She then walks forward to take her picture and Tyra does her version of a “pep talk,” if you can call it that. It was almost as if Chantal was saying…can I have a minute before I get my picture? Then Tyra dotes on Sarah…which honestly, just annoys me.
